![]() Bedtime Story BookSleep Time Story BooksChicken Bedtime is Really Early - Written by Erica S. Perl, Illustrated by George Bates ISBN: 0810949261 A delightful rhyming bedtime story (or anytime story) showing your child the sleeping and get-ready-for-bedtime habits of various species of young animals. As each hour passes, a different mommy and daddy animals gets their little ones ready for bed. Little rabbits get into their footed-pajamas. Little fish ask for another drink of water. Little frogs take part in a bedtime concert before settling down. And those little hamsters, well they wake up when everyone else settles down. The vibrant illustrations, using an acrylic with masking technique, are fun and easy for children to see what's going on along with the rhyming-storyline. It's written in such a way that parents can speed up or slow down the pace of the reading so that as your child starts to act groggy you can appropriately time closing the books and saying "The End" to your drowsy child. Although the illustrations aren't packed with hidden things for your child to find and talk about, there is plenty of detail for you to point things out and ask your child questions about the scenery in the book. It's a fun book that captures the hectic nature of bedtime for the animals and the eventual conclusion of a sleeping animal. I appreciate the repetition of it, hoping it reinforces our child's understanding that preparing for bed is a sign that bedtime is next - and that it's normal. It's normal for all these animals, over and over, and it's normal for little boys and girls. 5 Mommy-Stars out of 5 | |||||||||||||
