Creative MP3 Player

Creative MuVo TX FM Player Review

I bought my Creative (brand) MuVo TX FM mp3 player at Wal-Mart for $50 in April of 2005. It has 256Mb or storage and an FM tuner built-in.

So if I don't want to listen to mp3's, I can listen to the radio or even record the radio.

The package came with the accessories I wanted, an armband and convenience clip, plus earbuds. I wanted to use the mp3 player while working out in the morning before my husband left for work and while children slept. Instead of blaring a boom-box, an mp3 player with earbuds.

I was amazed at this device because of the way Creative designed it.

My previous mp3 player was one component (plus a USB cable that I kept misplacing), and this one is two components.

One portion houses the battery and the second houses the mp3 player, the 256Mb memory/storage, and the USB connector device. By detaching the mp3 player/storage/usb device from the battery portion, you can plug the USB device directly into a USB port on the computer for 'Drag-and-Drop' of MP3 files into the appropriate folder. Then you put the two halves back together and play your mp3s.

My previous mp3 player required a USB cable between the player and the computer in order to transfer music. Having a cable like the old mp3 player did, was a pain because it was an extra part to keep track of. Not so with the MuVO TX FM.

With the MuVo TX FM, the USB connection IS part of the mp3 player - there's no USB cable required and nothing unecessary to manage.

The convenience clip can fasten on a shirt pocket or on the included armband. So I can conveniently wear the mp3 player in a way that best matches the part of my day when I want to listen to music, the radio, or educational audio programs.

Since my mp3's are encoded at 128kbs and sampled at 44100, that converts one minute of audio into about one MB of space. Yes, that means you can have 256 minutes of music (nearly 4.5 hours) on the 256Mb version of the MuVo TX FM.

Other TuVO models offer 128Mb and 512Mb of memory. And I almost forgot to mention that the 256Mb model I bought came with software on CD and a quickstart guide (which I didn't even use).

Plus the MuVo has a built-in microphone for voice recording, and 5-band custom equalizer with 4 presets for Jazz, Rock, Pop and Classical music.

At around $50, Creative's MuVo TX FM offers an amazing amount of convenience and quality, and has the features I was looking for. It allows me the convenience of quick music transfer with it's built-in USB plug, easy attachment to the included armband (or shirt/jacket pocket) with the convenience clip, and ample storage with it's 256Mb storage capability.

It was easy to pick up at Wal-Mart for around $50, but you can also find them on eBay if you want to try to find a better bargain. If interested you can visit either Wal-Mart online or eBay right now and see what the current prices are, and if you buy online from either website - you can have it delivered right to your door.
